Another new German heat record
Earth ViewRead out
For the first time since the beginning of the weather records in Germany, the 42-degree mark has been cracked. In Lingen, the thermometer on Thursday showed 42.6 degrees Celsius. The city in the Emsland was thus the hottest place in the Federal Republic, as the German Weather Service announced.
The provisional measurement result must still be officially confirmed. With the historical heat value, however, several fresh temperature records should be sufficient. Only yesterday, Geilenkirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia had broken the previous record of 2015 with 40.5 degrees.
